Vision and pitch
What Ekdotico is, why it matters, and the shape of the opportunity it addresses.
The problem
Every academic paper involves the same painful context-switching: browser tabs for research, a separate mind map app for planning, Google Docs for writing, Zotero for citations, and more tabs for formatting the bibliography. The cost is not only time — it is fragmented attention, inconsistent record-keeping, and a writing process that is impossible for advisors or institutions to evaluate honestly.
The product
Ekdotico is a complete academic writing environment. One browser tab containing every tool a student or researcher needs from first idea to final submission — collaborative block editor, mind map canvas, research workspace, RAG-powered source chat, auto-citation engine, PDF annotator, bibliography manager, AI-maintained research journal, and a task tracker.
The integrity layer
Every exported paper carries an Ed25519 cryptographic signature with a
scored AI contribution breakdown — not a binary flag, but a non-binary
disclosure based on keystrokes, paste events, AI assist invocations, and
rewrite ratios. Anyone can verify a paper's provenance at
verify.ekdoti.co without an account. The paper's contents are never
revealed; only the checks pass or fail.
This flips the incentive of AI detection. Most tools are adversarial, trying to catch students. Ekdotico's provenance layer is the opposite — a student-controlled disclosure tool that makes responsible AI use demonstrable.
